Guzhang County, Hunan Province, China

HARVEST: April
VARIETAL: Camellia Sinensis var. Sinensis

Nestled deep in the misty mountains of western Hunan Province, Guzhang County is one of China's lesser-known yet most enchanting tea-growing regions. It may not have the global name recognition of other Chinese tea-producing regions, but Guzhang has been quietly producing some of the country’s most elegant and distinctive teas for centuries.

What sets Guzhang apart is its pristine natural environment. Surrounded by steep mountain slopes, dense forests, and flowing streams, the tea bushes grow slowly in the cool, humid climate — ideal conditions for cultivating high-quality organic tea.

The region’s most famous tea, Mao Jian, is a standout among Chinese green teas. Known for its slender, needle-like leaves and delicate aroma, it’s deliciously smooth, with a mellow flavour and lingering sweetness.

Picked in early spring and made with care, Guzhang Mao Jian captures the mountain air in every sip. It’s not just tea – it’s a moment of calm from one of China’s hidden gems.
